The Math of Momentum: How to Know Exactly What It Takes to Reach Your Revenue Goals
Last Week’s Lesson: Connection Over Content
In my first blog, Why Posting More Isn’t the Answer, we redefined visibility, not as posting more, but as building genuine relationships.
We learned that growth doesn’t come from being everywhere; it comes from being remembered and trusted by the right people.
Now it’s time to take that one step further. This week, we’ll look at what it really takes to turn those conversations into consistent results.
Because once you know your numbers, you can stop guessing and start growing with purpose.
And if you haven’t yet tried the AI-Guided Visibility Audit Prompt, it’s a great companion to this post. It’ll help you identify where your time is going, so you can align your hours with what actually drives results.
From Random Effort to Predictable Growth
When I first started tracking my visibility, it felt a lot like planting seeds in a garden. For weeks, nothing seemed to happen. I was showing up, reaching out, following up, but I didn’t see results right away.
Then one day, growth appeared seemingly out of nowhere. It wasn’t magic; it was compounded consistency.
Ed Mylett says, “All it takes is one.” One conversation. One connection. One opportunity that shifts everything. But you only find that “one” when you show up enough times for compounding to do its work.
A question I hear all the time is:
“How do I know where to spend my limited time and budget?”
You’re not alone in asking that. Most business owners, especially those juggling multiple responsibilities, never see the true math behind their visibility.
They’re working hard, but they’re guessing instead of growing with intention.
So, let’s take the mystery out of it. When you understand your numbers, you’ll see that visibility doesn’t require superhuman effort. It just requires structure, consistency, and small daily actions that compound over time.
Turning Goals Into a Visibility Equation
The goal here isn’t to overwhelm you; it’s to give you clarity and control. When you know what your goals require, you can adjust your plan instead of feeling defeated by it.
Let’s walk through a simple version of the Visibility Calculator framework together.
Step 1: Start With Your 90-Day Goal
Say your goal is $30,000 over 90 days — or $10,000 per month. That gives you a clear and specific target instead of a vague wish for “more clients.”
Step 2: Divide by Your Average Sale
If your average sale or package is $1,000, that means you’ll need 30 sales this quarter (about 10 clients per month).
This could represent 1:1 clients, small-group programs, or done-for-you services, whatever form your revenue takes.
Step 3: Estimate Your Conversion Rate
Let’s use a realistic and empowering range.
If you typically close 30% of the qualified leads you speak with, you’ll need around 100 qualified leads this quarter to reach those 30 sales.
If you’re newer or still refining your offer, use 20% as your starting point; that simply means you’d need closer to 150 qualified leads. (As your relationships and systems strengthen, that number improves naturally.)
Step 4: Estimate Your Outreach Response Rate
If roughly 10% of the people you reach out to respond or engage in some way (through a DM, email reply, or booking link), you’ll need to connect with 1,000–1,500 people over 90 days.
At first glance, that can sound big, but here’s what’s important to remember:
those aren’t 1,000 strangers.
They’re the sum of:
Your existing followers, subscribers, and group members
People you’ve already met through collaborations or communities
Past clients and warm leads you can re-engage
A handful of new connections each week that expand your reach
So rather than 1,000 new cold outreaches, think of this as nurturing and expanding an ecosystem that already exists.
Step 5: Break It Down into Manageable Momentum
When you spread that activity across 13 weeks, it equals roughly 75–115 touches per week — which breaks down to about 15–20 meaningful interactions per weekday.
But here’s the empowering part: you’re fully in control of how you get there.
Adjust your goal — want to start smaller? Halve it and work toward $5K/month instead.
Increase your conversion rate — improve your follow-up or discovery process to close 40% instead of 30%.
Leverage automation — use simple systems to send reminders, track leads, or re-engage past contacts automatically, freeing your energy for the conversations that matter most.
This is the power of visibility math — not to pressure you, but to empower you. Once you know the numbers, you can choose how to reach them in a way that fits your energy, your schedule, and your stage of growth.
Step 5: Break It Into Manageable Momentum
If we divided that evenly across 13 weeks, it would be about 90 outreach touches per week, or 18 per weekday.
But remember, this is your starting clarity point, not a requirement carved in stone.
Once you see the numbers, you can play with them.
Don’t have time for 18 touches a day? Reduce your goal or stretch your timeline.
Want to earn the same amount with less outreach? Focus on improving your conversion rate; better follow-ups and nurture can often double your results.
Need more ease? Use automation for repetitive tasks so you can spend your energy where it matters most: real human connection.
That’s the freedom that comes from understanding the math.
It gives you the power to adjust the plan to fit your life, not the other way around.
Normalizing the Numbers
When you first look at your visibility math, it can feel intimidating, especially if you’ve been told that posting online “should be enough.”
But these numbers are actually normal. Every business that grows consistently has this same rhythm happening behind the scenes, whether they’re doing it manually, through a team, or through automation.
And the great news is: You’re already doing pieces of this every day.
Every comment you reply to, every message you send, every conversation you nurture — it all counts toward your outreach.
You’re not starting from zero. You’re simply adding clarity to what you’re already doing.
Here’s How That Outreach Typically Breaks Down

When you look at it this way, the picture changes. You're not talking to 1,200 strangers; you’re simply nurturing a mix of relationships already around you
The Emotions Behind the Numbers
Sometimes, seeing the truth feels heavy. You might think:
“I’ll never have enough time.”
“This feels like too much.”
“How will I ever keep up?”
If that’s you, pause and breathe.
This is the moment where most people give up, right when they’re about to gain control.
Seeing the truth isn’t failure. It’s freedom. Because when you can see it, you can solve it.
These numbers are not here to limit you. They’re here to empower you.
You get to decide:
Do I want to lower my goal for now and grow sustainably?
Do I want to focus on improving my conversion rate through better follow-ups and conversations?
Or do I want to leverage automation so I can handle the structure while staying focused on the human side?
There is no wrong answer. This isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing what works for you.
From Numbers to Empowerment
Momentum isn’t magic.
It’s math + consistency + heart.
When you understand your numbers, you stop being reactive and start being intentional. You move from confusion to clarity, from “I hope this works” to “I know what’s working.”
So here’s your quick win for this week:
Open the Visibility Calculator.
Copy this file and plug in your goal, your average sale, and your current conversion rate.
Play with the numbers.
What happens if you increase your conversion rate from 20% to 30%? What if you lower your goal this quarter so you can build systems that sustain you next quarter?
Identify your focus.
Maybe it’s nurturing leads. Maybe it’s automating outreach. Maybe it’s finally tracking your follow-ups. Whatever it is, pick one small step, and be consistent.
Because consistency compounds. And when you pair it with clarity, growth becomes predictable.
Try the AI-Guided Visibility Audit Prompt

Looking Ahead
Next week, we’ll tackle the piece that makes this all sustainable: automation that still feels human.
Because now that you understand what creates momentum, the next step is learning how to keep it going, without exhaustion, overwhelm, or endless manual work.
Until then, give yourself credit. You’re not behind. You’re simply building awareness, and awareness is power.
You’re learning to grow your business intentionally, one clear, consistent, human conversation at a time.
Feeling Overwhelmed? You Don’t Have to Figure This Out Alone.
If reading through the numbers has you feeling a little anxious, that’s completely normal. Most entrepreneurs were never taught how to connect the dots between visibility, conversions, and consistent revenue. It’s not instinctive, and you don’t have to do it alone.
